Collaborations

Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise at Cornell University

The Center frames global sustainability challenges as business opportunities, and works with firms to specify innovative, entrepreneurial, and new business alternatives they can implement in the marketplace.

Cornell Sustainability Consultants (CSC)

CSC is a three-credit course that provides hands-on business experience and practical training. IndieClime is a project of a specialized sub-team of CSC.

Barry A. Berman

Founder & CEO

Barry Berman was the founder of Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals/RawTernative and NexPet, two prominent brands in the pet industry. Under his leadership, both grew to among the top 30 U.S. pet brands by 2023, culminating in a successful exit. Earlier in his career, Barry served as CEO of subsidiaries of both public and private companies in the flooring, logistics, pet, and security sectors, leading businesses with both manufacturing and service operations.

Barry’s non-profit activities include serving for 22 years on the board of Parent-Child +, including eight years on the Executive Committee. He is a former board chair of the World Pet Association; during his 16 years of service there he led a team that evaluated and initiated millions of dollars of donations to animal-related non-profits. Barry also served on the boards of Danspace Project and the National Association of Floor Covering Distributors.

In addition to his business career, Barry was a Professor of Design Marketing at Parsons School of Design, teaching both BBA and BFA students. Barry has been a speaker, panelist or moderator at scores of business conferences, and his monthly columns about management and retailing appeared in industry magazines for twelve years. He is a member of the Entrepreneurship Advisory Council at Cornell University.
